Important details in the design cannot be replicated using the plans alone. To comply with our licensing agreement you MUST purchase the kayak building videos before purchasing plans. The beautiful boat with the dorky name, LPB stands for Long Pointy Boat. The LPB kayak is my answer to those who feel the need for speed in a touring capable sea kayak.

For paddlers who really are cranking at 4 to 5 mph everywhere they go, the LPB is every inch an athlete’s kayak. Pulling much of its genetics from race, rather than sea, kayaks the LPB features a narrow catch for superior power delivery, a rounder hull, and a long knifing bow that will cut oncoming chop and reduce bobbing. Retaining about seventy percent of the handling capability of the F1, the LPB resists weathercocking and performs well in rough water, but sacrifices some stability to gain about 1 mph of hull speed at the top end. The LPB is an excellent choice for the dedicated fitness paddler who still wants a touring capable sea kayak. It’s also a good choice for paddlers who want to add extra volume for longer distance touring without increasing the kayak width as much as scaling up the F1. 

This new flat deck version trades some forward cargo space for an alternative front deck profile and a forward deck mounting surface useful for a variety of accessories including our new catamaran system.

We currently offer the "Flat Deck" LPB in 3 sizes for paddlers weighing 150 – 200 lbs.

LICENSING AGREEMENT, PLEASE READ:

These plans are designed to be used in conjunction with our kayak building video course. There are important details in the video that you need to accurately reproduce the kayak. Purchase of a plan set allows you to build one kayak for yourself, and another as a gift for a friend who is not building a kayak. Two builders must buy two videos and two plan sets. Children under age 18 may build for free in an at-home setting. Commercial use is allowed with written permission and a plan set purchase for each boat built, contact for details.
