Footbrace Drop Kit
Simply a pair of pieces of ABS plastic, you can drill holes in these drop plates to lower the height of normal or rudder-control footbraces.
For people installing our standard Sea-Lect foot braces, we generally advise waiting to purchase drop kits to see if you actually need them. For people installing SmartTrack footbraces, a drop kit will be necessary in one of our modern kayaks to get to toe pad within reach of your foot. For people installing any style of rudder control footbrace, drop kits are necessary.
Each kit includes two drop plates and the hardware to attach them to the gunwales; choose the appropriate option for your preferred installation method and gunwale thickness.
Depending on which footbrace configuration you already have, you may or may not have the hardware for mounting the footbrace to the drop kit itself. We have added a portion of our drop kit installation video here so you can determine if you need additional hardware, which can be purchased separately here.
Mounting Hardware options:
Gunwale-mounted into T-nuts
Ships with 4ea bonded washers and 4ea 1/4-20 stainless steel hex tap bolts appropriately sized for gunwale thickness
Gunwale-mounted, screwed to gunwales
Ships with 8ea stainless steel #12 truss head screws appropriately sized for gunwale thickness
You'll also want to add our 1/4-20 stainless T-nuts to your purchase for a new frame install (if you do not have them already or are not getting them in another kit)
