White Oak Kayak Rib Kit

These ribs are freshly cut Oregon White Oak, which is strong, rot resistant, and steam bends extremely well. Ribs are sold in packs of 30, which is generally enough to complete any of our kayaks with a few left over. We sell two different grades:  

Grade A ribs are perfectly uniform with only minor grain imperfections towards one end of less than half the ribs, which can be cut off on the shorter ribs. These ribs will bend perfectly if you follow the steaming instructions in our videos.  

Grade B ribs have some grain imperfections, small pin knots, slight variation in thickness, and slight variation and moisture content, but contain enough clear sections to get good bending stock with careful sorting and cutting choices. Expect to break a few more ribs if choosing the grade B stock.   

Important notes: The ribs we sell are 1 5/16 x 17/64, but some of our larger kayaks use a different size. Please check your plan set before ordering and send us an email if your boat calls for a different size rib or more than 22 ribs total. If you live in the United States and we are out of stock or need canoe ribs, you can also purchase excellent quality pre-cut rib stock from jwswanandsons.com. If you are an international customer, we strongly encourage you to only purchase Grade A ribs.
